Day centre Maribor

Day centre Maribor is a work unit of the Institute. Head office is on Dalmatinska ulica 19 in Maribor. It was established in the renovated premises of the former Children's Home Maribor and began to operate in 2001.

We provide daily care and training of children and adolescents with severe and profound intellectual disabilities who live in the wider Maribor area. Since 2008, the Centre has also been conducting comprehensive care of children with autism.

The centre is open weekdays, 10 hours a day. The capacity of the centre is 30 places.

In accordance with the needs of our users, the following programs are performed:

  • Specialised education and training program
  • Care of children with autism spectrum disorders,
  • Speech therapy, physiotherapy and work therapeutic care,
  • Health care,
  • Social services and
  • Working with parents.


Care is performed in suitably equipped habilitation and residential premises of the day center.

In addition to the regular care, work is enriched with various activities of interest. Many of the contacts with the immediate and broader environment are made through a variety of activities; sports days, cultural events, excursions and naturalistic days. Special importance is given to the integration program, which is implemented in a variety of activities with elementary school pupils of Maks Durjava and France Prešeren Elementary Schools from Maribor.

Users of the day centre largely benefit from meetings with a large number of volunteers.
